CAPITAL CUP FOR KIDS Family GRANT INFORMATION
Capital Cup for Kids, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to connecting athletes of all ages to community service and the spirit of giving in the greater Capital Region of New York. Through events like the annual Capital Cup for Kids Hockey Tournament and our newly formed Capital Cup for Kids Golf Tournament and our partnerships with local charities we are honored to be able provide and give grants to local families and organizations in our community in order to support children with a life-threatening illness.
To apply for financial assistance, families must meet the following criteria:
The patient named in the application has been recently diagnosed with a life altering illness and is in active treatment.
The patient named in the application must be a child of 21 years old or younger. The family must reside and have maintained uninterrupted residency for 12 months in the upstate New York Capital Region.
The family is facing a demonstrable loss of income due to missed work. Though we do not base our decisions on replacing lost income – our goal is to provide temporary financial assistance during a time of crisis due to a life-threatening illness within the family.
At the time of the application, the family must be current with their bills. We will consider applications where we help families “catch up” if they recently missed a payment deadline, but applications that show families are substantially behind in the bills are typically not approved.
Our goal is to assist financially stable families during treatment of their family member who has been diagnosed with a life-threatening illness.
Please be aware:
We do not accept unsolicited applications. We rely on our approved referral partners and members of Capital Cup for Kids, Inc. to secure applications.
Applicants will not be discriminated against or denied aid because of your race, religion, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, political affiliation, veteran status, or type of life- altering illness.
Assistance depends in part on how life-altering illness has affected the family’s ability to pay their non-medical bills. If approved for assistance, funds are usually paid directly to the vendor/service provider.
We are a temporary financial bridge during a tough time. We support financially stable working families who are not receiving a significant portion of their monthly income from public assistance programs. We focus on the weeks and months immediately after diagnosis so that their medical crisis does not result in a fiscal crisis. Families that have accumulated significant past due bills are often not a fit for our program.
We do not have the resources currently to support individuals fighting chronic health issues or in significant debt / burdened with past due bills. We remain focused on engaging with families at the outset of their health battle to provide temporary financial assistance during this critical phase.
All sections of the application must be complete and accurate for Capital Cup for Kids, Inc. to review the request. Failure to provide complete and truthful information is a basis for denial.
